It's the 25th, which means it's a Happy Christmas in July. It certainly felt like Christmas when I received my July boxes from Island Batik, filled with goodies to use through the end of the year.
I created a video and shared in on YouTube. I'd love it if you'd go over and watch the video. It's only a couple of minutes and I feel very clever having created it on iMovie without any help from teenagers.
Island Batik are very generous in supplying beautiful fabrics to ambassadors and I feel very lucky to be an ambassador for this company. Along with Island Batik fabrics, in this July shipment, we also received supplies from industry partners including Aurifil, Hobbs Batting, AccuQuilt and Patterns ByAnnie.
For my August challenge, I'll be using this 2.5" strip set of Blushing Garden. It's a fun project which I saw Jenny Doan make on YouTube from a pattern by Tara Faughnan. I'll be sharing a picture of my project through the coming month.
This GORGEOUS half yard bundle is called English Lavender and is designed by Kathy Engle. Don't you just love these colours! This will be used in my September challenge. I haven't decided on a project just yet, but better hop to it as it's quite a slow technique when we're tasked with using. Any clues?
A dozen half yard cuts of basics, blenders and solids. I love all of these colours together.
We also receive a surprise 1/2 yard bundle along with co-ordinating yardage of light and dark fabrics. I'll be able to share more of this fabric later in the year. I admit that I've snuck (or sneaked) a peak and it's probably my favourite bundle of all. Gorgeous colour-way that's smile inducing!
Hobbs Batting always supply a beautiful assortment of batting options for us to use. I received Hobbs Premium Cotton, Wool Batting, Tuscany Collection Cotton/Wool Blend (which is lovely with beautiful drape) and Thermore which is a lightweight polyester batting.
Aurifil supplied an assortment of thread for us to sample. I received a monofilament (great for applique), cotton floss (6 strand), 80 weight cotton (excellent for applique or EPP) and two spools of 12 weight thread (my favourite for big stitch quilting).
In November, we have our By Annie challenge and we've received all of the bits and pieces to make the bag of our choice. I decided on the 'Flipping Out' pouch. As well as the pattern and all of the bits and pieces, the pattern includes a free video on YouTube, by Annie herself. I'll certainly be watching this to get all of her tips and tricks in assembling this pouch.
Once again, we'll be participating in an AccuQuilt challenge. We all received the North Carolina Star die. It's a Block on Board (BOB) die which means that you cut all of the pieces to make this 12" block in one swoop. I've never made this block so I look forward to this challenge too.
That's one thing I love about being an Island Batik ambassador - the challenges. They're different and often times, new to me techniques or blocks or things which I've always wanted to make, but have put off for fear or difficulty level.
We are expecting another parcel soon with black/white/grey solid as well as the stash builder packs. These packs are always a joy and I'm going to have a giveaway soon.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming months with these challenges and I hope you enjoy coming along for the ride with me :)
