Happy Trails Block (SHQAL)

Happy Scrappy Monday! You know what this means, right?

It's Scrappiness is Happiness day, where I share the block I made this week for the quilt along (of the same name).

Today's block is called the "Happy Trails" block and it finishes up at a nice big 16.5" square. It's basically made up of squares in various sizes and comes together quite nicely. I love it when a block pattern just works well and doesn't require a lot of meticulous instruction or construction.

Now if last weeks block reminded me of an 'Everlasting Gobstopper', this weeks block reminds me of the 80's game called 'Simon'. Obviously, if I'd chosen different colours for my block, I probably wouldn't have made the association - but there you go.

I remember when I was in primary school, this game (and a few others) would be brought out when we had to stay in our classrooms at lunchtime due to wet weather. There were only a few games, so those who ate their lunch the fastest got to pick what they wanted to play with first.

I like the Happy Trails pattern I always like the pattern that the little nine patch blocks make

Anorina, this is a beautiful block. I could imagine making it in a bunch of indie prints and constructing a massive quilt looking all vintage-y
When we were in school and had to stay inside, we played board games but not ones that require batteries because it was living in prehistoric caveman days. We played thumbs up, and simon says and gosh, I do not recall, extra art class maybe.
