The Island Batik Ambassador challenge for November is called Creative Christmas Stockings. We were tasked with creating a festive project with our Island Batik stash.
We already have Christmas stockings at our house, so rather than make more big ones, I decided that I'd make a Christmas Stocking garland with smaller stockings.
These little stockings are big enough to hold little gifts or surprises.
To make these stockings, I used the template/pattern by Amy of Diary of a Quilter. These are nice and easy to make and come together quite quickly.
Turning out the stocking was a little fiddly, but I ended up using a chop stick which worked well.
The part that takes the longest is finding somewhere to hang them when you don't have a fireplace or a mantle. I ended up just waiting for my kids to come home from school to hold up either end, promising them that they wouldn't be in the picture.
Thanks to the industry sponsors who provided product to create this project.
Also, a big thanks to Island Batik for the challenge. Once again, this was a challenge which I really enjoyed, but wasn't something that I'd normally have made without the prompt.
Keep an eye out for the December Island Batik challenge - it's a big one!
Cute stockings. They look like a good size for using up leftovers too.
ReplyDeletethose are cute stockings - I had not thought to make a garland with them
ReplyDeleteA great idea for the challenge Anorina, and your stockings turned out really sweet. I hope you find somewhere to hang the garland!
ReplyDeleteVery cute and festive.
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable, Anorina!! They would be a great idea even with a mantle and fireplace!
ReplyDeletevery cute indeed....a garland like that is oh so festive
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I like how you made the stockings into a garland, and funny how you had to promise your kids not to be in the photos. Those would also be the perfect size for a pet stocking. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and colourful.
