Yesterday was a good day. I went into the sewing room mid morning and played until the kids came home from school and it was time to get dinner started.

A while ago, I'd quilted a large square of low volume fabric on top of two layers of hobbs cotton batting which were leftover from a previous project. I used a lovely citrus (yellow, orange, red, white) variegated Aurifil thread which I'd received in my Aurifil Artisan welcome pack.

I'd had an idea that I wanted to use this large panel to make a great big cushion for the corner of the lounge using a European Pillow insert. Then I put it aside and completely forgot about it... until yesterday.

I got my Crafters Edge Crossover II machine out, some dies and got to work. Using scraps from various previous quilt projects for Island Batik, I fused Heat n Bond (lite sewable) to the backs of the fabrics and then cut the various shapes with the machine. Too easy!

I cut some large and small flower shapes along with the circles from one die set and then some leaves/petals from the tulip die set. It's an odd shaped leaf with one side more curved and rounded than the other, but I think it works fine.

I layed out the pieces and fused them in place. Chose some matching Aurifil threads and appliqued (and quilted) the shapes to the background. 

I like how it's coming along, but I think it's not quite finished yet. More is more is more... right?

At the start of the year, I set my reading challenge to 30 books for 2022. I'm happy to report that I've worked my way through 31 books. Yay!

I keep a record of the books using the Goodreads app or website. If you use Goodreads too, let's be friends?

Looking at all of my star ratings so far this year, I really must be quite fussy because I generally rate the books I've read as 3 star with only a couple of 4 star books.  Well, I finished an audiobook yesterday which I gave a 5 star rating to. It may not be everyone's taste but I really enjoyed it.

The ornate reading room at the Boston Public Library is quiet, until the tranquility is shattered by a woman's terrified scream.
