With Christmas only weeks away, I thought I'd create something fun and seasonal for the hop.
My kids are teenagers now, so I'm pleased that I have younger nephews who I can give these mug rugs to.
If you'd like to make your own Cookies for Santa mug run, I've included the free downloadable pattern further down in the post.
The stitchery is sewn with 3 strands of #321 DMC cotton thread. This is my most favourite colour when stitching redwork. I backed the top fabric with fusible fleece (pellon) before stitching. This then became my "batting" in the sandwich.
The cookies were cut with my Crafters Edge Crossover II using the Circle die set. I used 2 different size circles for the cookies. The one on the left is a little bit smaller than the one on the right. For the icing, I used a circle die, one size smaller. I then cut out the wavy edges with scissors.
The brown was showing through the white "icing" so I've used two layers of white fabric which I think worked well.
For the sprinkles, I used 12 wt Aurifil thread in three different colours. I could probably have used lots more colours, but thought I should keep it simple.
I hope you enjoy making a Cookies for Santa mug rug... I had fun and couldn't stop at only making one!
