Even with the best intentions of spending time in my sewing room this weekend, it didn't happen. Maybe this week will be better.
I did manage to make a few purple scrap hexies and last night finished appliqueing them to their black/white backgrounds.
My week/end has been filled with lots of driving. The musical at my kids school this year is The Pajama Game. It is a musical based on a novel, written in the 1953. The stage show was on Broadway and was later made into a film starring Doris Day. Both of my kids are in the production this year and have been rehearsing since the start of the year.
The school rents out a local theatre for a week and they'll be performing a number of shows. I'm really looking forward to watching them in action. I think it's fantastic that their school drama and music departments endeavour to put on a school musical each year. In saying all of this, I'll also be pleased when it's over and I don't have to do the hour long round trip to drop them off and pick them up. Yay for the school bus!
Book 18 out of 26 in my 2021 reading challenge was Captured by Neil Cross.
Even though he is still young, Kenny has just weeks to live. Before he dies, he wants to find his childhood best friend Callie Barton and thank her for the kindness she showed him when they were at school together. But when Kenny begins his search, he discovers that Callie Barton has gone missing. Although cleared of any involvement, her husband Jonathan seems to be hiding something. Kenny has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. And knowing that time is running out on him, he's prepared to do whatever it takes ...
I thought this book was a bit 'meh'. The main character, Kenny, did a lot of questionable things. He was apparently a very well liked person but what we saw was someone obsessive and ultimately, quite violent. At times, I felt like the character didn't make sense, though that could have been the brain tumour affecting judgement?
For a thriller (rather than a horror), some of the scenes had too much detail and way more more gore than necessary. The storyline of a person righting wrongs before they die is a good one, but the ending was wrapped up too quickly. Considering how detailed the rest of the book had been, it felt quite rushed at the end. I gave this one a 3 on Goodreads.
always love hexies!
ReplyDeleteLovely purple hexies….
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading the book woman of Troublesome Creek...I gave it a 5 on Goodreads. We are discussing it at book club this month. I love those purple hexie flowers
ReplyDeleteLots of pretty purples there.
ReplyDeletevery effective purple on the black/white backgrounds
ReplyDeletei am a fan of your hexies on the backgrounds you have chosen. I have purchased the hexie punch you told us about a few weeks ago and am trying to not be annoyed with the troublsome details of separating the home office from the sewing room so i can get the templates for the fabric cutting. I am sure when all these things are completed it will be a truly happy day, In the meantime i am trying to content myself with peaking in on your site for inspiration. thank you
ReplyDeleteI think that you got a LOT done!! those hexies are great - and really - an hour drive each day... that will slow you down. What fun for both of your kids to be in the same play!!
