The weather has certainly become quite cool and wintery with thoughts turning to warm blankets and hot soup.
And really, is there anything nicer than being able to grab a warm wooly wrap to place over your shoulders when the day is done and you're sitting on the couch watching your favourite shows.
I used just under 2 Caron Latte Cakes for the wrap. It's probably a little wider than it needs to be, but I think it's better to be a little bit bigger than needed, rather than too small.
The yarn is really lovely and squishy with fluffy bits all through it. I thought it'd be a pain to work with, imagining little bits getting caught up, but it was really as simple to work as regular yarn.
The pattern is a simple V-Stitch (tr, ch, tr) into the previous rows V's. The yarn called for a size 4 hook, but knowing how tightly I seem to crochet, I used a size 6 hook to keep it all nice and loose with lovely drape.
In other news, you may notice my blog has had a bit of a refresh in layout. It had been over 3 years since I'd played with it so figured it was time to something new. I honestly am not sure I like it and I can't figure out how to change it back to how it was before. It's not working well on mobile devices and it seems the new blogger update doesn't have that 'mobile' option any longer.
Anyways, I'm going to turn this off and head into the sewing room. We've got a new "Born to be Wild" blog hop starting this week which is hosted by Just Let Me Quilt and it should be lots of fun to see what everyone comes up with.
Your wrap looks lovely and cosy....just the thing for this blast of cold air that we are having at present.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. This cold weather seems to have arrived so suddenly and it’s definitely time to get the flannelette sheets on the beds.
DeleteHope you have a fab Monday :)
Your wrap looks so cosy......
ReplyDeleteBlogger always changes things when we just get used to them...
Thanks Maria. It's really soft and lovely. I gave the wrap to mum and I think I need to find one of those pins (brooches?) to help hold it together. I'm hoping Spotlight have them. Have a great Monday :)
Deletebeautiful scarf. It looks like cashmere.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary. It's an acrylic/nylon blend, so more within my budget ;-)
DeleteHope you're well and enjoying some warmer weather.
What a pretty wrap. I like the heather-ish colors, and it DOES look squishy, cozy, and perfect for cooler weather. Your blog looks really nice on my MacBook. I'm curious what platform you're using at the top right, to have posts delivered to your followers by email. Is that a Bloglovin' service? Just wondering because I disassociated myself from Bloglovin' several years ago, when there was no way to stop "sex promoting" type followers. Maybe you haven't had that problem.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. I managed to import the old theme I’d backed-up last year.
DeleteI thanked my past-self for having done that and I won’t be playing around with the settings anymore.
The email link is to bloglovin’. I’ve not had that type of follower problem (maybe I’ve been lucky so far) and I find it easy to use and follow other blogs through this platform.
Not sure if you’re aware, but we can still see your blog updates on bloglovin’ when you post something new.
Your wrap is so beautiful and looks very soft and warm and such lovely colors. I have always wanted to learn to crochet. Maybe someday. Have a very blessed week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melisa :)
DeleteI learned to crochet through YouTube. Once you get the hang of how to hold the yarn and hook (which is what I found the trickiest), the rest is easy peasy. The problem with crochet is that you end up buying yarn faster than you can use it... a bit like fabric and quilting :)
I love the wrap.....
