I thought I'd start with making some quarter log cabin blocks.
Looking at the pile of greens I have, I knew I wouldn't have any problem making a whole lot of these scrappy happy blocks. I decided to use mainly lime or leafy greens and left the more teal/turquoise pieces of fabric, for later in the year (incase they make an appearance).
I ended up with 17 of them all pressed and trimmed - only 16 blocks appear in this picture because it looked more balanced for IG.
I don't normally like green all that much, but I really love the look of these blocks. Can you imagine a whole scrappy green quilt like this on a bed to snuggle under? How lovely!!
These are just delightful! Green is my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI actually like green so they are a favourite of mine. And, as I'm making quarter log cabins too I LoVe seeing them all lined up...
ReplyDeleteGo green ... xox
They do look great all trimmed and lined up and I look forward to seeing what you make with your 1/4 log cabin blocks. Not sure what I'll do with mine yet - I'm making these for the RSC and seem to have more greens that any of the other colours so far. I might need to go back at make some more yellows and pinks.
DeleteI like those quarter log cabin blocks and the hexies that you showed a day or so ago
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. They look nice when they're all pressed and trimmed. The hexies are my evening (in front of the telly) project.
Deletethey look great...

Thank you :)
DeleteI can imagine snuggling under that under finished.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine those greens as part of a lovely Spring quilt, with more pink and yellow based blocks, all scattered about like a field of spring flowers. Very pretty and fresh!

ReplyDeleteLOVE these blocks in GREEN!! I'm working on a set made from yellow scraps (pulled last month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.) I'm wishing that I had waited and made my blocks in green, too.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, beautiful green log cabins! It's going to be a bright and beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI’ve made log cabin blocks, but not quarter cabins! These are cute. How big are your blocks unfinished?
ReplyDeleteThese are 6” after I trim them nice and neatly.
DeleteI chose 6” because it’s the width of my ruler and so it’s easy to measure when I’m putting them together :)
Gorgeous blocks! I love all your cute prints.
ReplyDeleteLove all these happy blocks!
ReplyDeletethe green fabrics are lovely.........
ReplyDeleteI am also not a huge green fan but we need all of the colors of the rainbow in our quilts. And you keep inspiring me to finish cleaning up the sewing room so I can sort scraps. I am in the middle of going through all of my fabrics after pulling them all out of the bins. I have destashed some by giving them to a friend and she will be giving me some of her scraps from her current project.
