This year, our Christmas decorating is quite minimal which means there is a lot that I hadn't re-discovered.
I had a morning at home this week and thought I'd have a little dig through one of my crates of Christmas decor. I like to pack up Christmas on Boxing Day (26th December) so it's always interesting to see what was hastily packed away (and where) from the previous year/s.
The crate I opened up contained a bunch of table runners, my big "A Wish Quilt" by Bronwyn Hayes (which I didn't get around to hanging) and a few mini quilts.
This Joy quilt was part of a blog hop hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop.
I enjoyed the embroidery so much that I stitched up the blocks again and made them into a long narrow wall hanging to hang on a space in my hallway.
I'm sure there are a lot of old Christmas projects still packed away. Oh well, this close to Christmas, they can make and appearance next year.
Did you decorate as normal this year? Are you one who loves decorating every space in your home or did you go for a minimal Christmas?

These are all so pretty. They add a really festive touch to your library.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :)
DeleteOur Christmas 🎄 is also minimal this year.
ReplyDeleteYou found some treasures in the crate to hang.
You can see from the Riverdale Collection one how fabrics have changed.
Enjoy your quiet Christmas and stay safe and well. 🧑🎄
Oh yes, fabrics have definitely changed. I’m sure this was just a Spotlight purchase, but their fabrics have really evolved too with a tonne of variety.
DeleteI hope you have a lovely Christmas too. With our minimal decorating this year, packing up will be easy!
Your little quilts are lovely.... I am quite minimal this year... a fireplace/tree and a couple of quilts up.... I love making Christmas things but I'm a grinch about decorating! haha

Oh I hear you about being a grinch. That's certainly been me this Christmas. We don't even have any outdoor lights which is something that we've done every year since we moved in.
DeleteThese are lovely. I have never made a Christmas quilt but I do get out my collection of Christmas cross stitch every year which brings me great joy. Happy Christmas. x
ReplyDeleteOooh I do love cross stitcheries, but have only ever made one. I'm not sure I have the patience to count all of those little squares. Hope you have a lovely Christmas too xx
DeleteYour Christmas small quilts are so nice. I'm sure it's good to pull them out each year and be reminded of something you enjoyed making. "Minimal" is the word here. In fact, we don't have any decorations. When it's just two of us, and no one comes to visit, there's no reason to go to the effort. Enjoy your decorations, and have a lovely Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt'll certainly be a quick Christmas pack-up this year, although I've no doubt that even though we don't have a lot out, we'll still forget something and then have it hanging around I can be fussed going into the Christmas crates packed away under our stairs. Hope you have a lovely Christmas too xx
DeleteI love all your little quilts. I brought out a lot of my Christmas things this year because it's the first time we've been home for several years.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Enjoy your Christmas at home this year xx
DeleteIt is fun opening up the decoration box each year and re-discovering old treasures. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I'm looking forward to packing up Christmas this year and getting the house back to normal. I'm feeling very grinchy this year.
DeleteHi, those are really lovely Christmas quilts. Isn't it fun to take them out each year? Take care and I wish you all the best during the holiday season!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we’ll be home by ourselves, I had all the decorations brought down from the attic to see just what we had! Over the years, some boxes were pushed to the eves and their contents forgotten. It was a fun chore to discover decorations from years past and to decorate the house. We (I) needed a change in scenery, music and memories to make it through the year and have a fresh mind-set for 2021!
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate the way I did when children were at home. It is so long since they left that I feel I am not so enthusiastic about the décor. They however decorate a lot and I am glad for that. I love your mini quilts. I did mini ones for all three children not Christmas ones though, I did them for Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely Christmas projects! I can't imagine trying to pack everything away immediately on the 26th, but then, that's my son's birthday so we're always busy with other things that day. We generally leave our decorations up until Epiphany. Merry Christmas!
