Symone Quilt : FREE and EASY QUILT PATTERN

Symone Quilt by Anorina Morris
I decided to go through and document (list) all of the projects which I've had published in magazines over the last few years.

It's something which I've wanted to do for a long time, and even though I have a copy of all of the magazines (that I'm aware of) on my shelves, I'd never gotten around to it.

Well, with a house full of kids (and extras) I thought this would be a good task as I could still keep an ear out for the kids, but hang in the sewing room. Of course sitting down and flicking through craft magazines meant that I didn't get much accomplished, but found a lot of projects which I want to now make. Funny that, right?

Anyways, I saw a project which I made for Handmade magazine a few years ago. They sent out the fabric bundle and asked for a project - most likely needing a quick turn around as was the norm.

I called it the Symone Quilt which was really uninspired because that was the name of the fabric line. I also realised that I never actually blogged about it here, so thought I'd share the pattern with you.

It's a simple quilt to construct and would make a great gift for a new baby in this 40" square size. You could always add more blocks to make a larger lap or bed size quilt. I think this is a project that can easily be finished over a weekend and ready for gifting.

To make this quilt, you will need:

8 fat quarters (2 low/medium volume and 6 brighter ones)
3/4 yard of white tone-on-tone fabric

2 yards of fabric for the backing and binding

Plus batting and the usual sewing supplies

The plus blocks are easy to put together and can definitely be chain pieced. You'll need to make 18 plus blocks which finish up at 6.5" each.

To make the process easier, have the fabric all cut up into the squares/rectangles and lined up near your machine. Pop on an audio book or spotify and sew, sew, sew.

As usual, if you make this quilt, I'd love to see it. Please send me a picture or tag me on social.
