Hip to be Square - OMG May 2020

Well this past week has flown by. It's amazing how quickly time can fly by, even though the days seem to stretch out. Right?

This past week, I worked on my Easy Peasy Blanket, I made a custom cushion for a little girl called Iyla, cooked lots of food and even a little bit of baking.

Nigella's Choc Chip Bread Pudding - sooooo yummy!

I read a couple of good books, finished a jigsaw puzzle and started another one and caught up on some Netflix. I'm slowing working my way through Blacklist.

A colourful puzzle which I borrowed from a friend to play with.
She sent over 4 x 1000 piece puzzles which should keep us entertained for a good while :)

Oh... and helping my kids with homeschooling. YIKES! They were back at school for Term 2 this past week. They'll have another week of learning at home and then, the week after, schools will begin to slowly go back to normal. Yay for normality returning.

The Covid-19 restrictions are beginning to ease here in NSW, so we're now allowed to go and visit with family or friends. Two adults can go and visit along with their kids, so my sister and I arranged to go and visit our parents and bring our kids along. Visiting with family and long lunches (which seem to roll right through until nearly dinner time) were our norm, so we all missed being together.

The cousins were so excited to see each other and even though they facetime just about every day, hanging out together was their highlight.

Watching the seagulls all move about in tandem with the wind

Chester was keeping an eye on the outdoor furniture as it got flipped over because of the wind

We had a crazy day yesterday with arctic winds blowing. And it was cold. Colder than usual for this time of year, so staying inside where it was all lovely and cosy was perfect.

I started working on my 'It's Cool To Be Square' project for the blog hop later this month.

I'm calling mine 'Hip to be Square'. Remember that old song by Huey Lewis and the News?

For this months 'One Monthly Goal' (OMG) my plan is to have my project finished completely (as I see it in my imagination), without rushing through it at the last minute.

  2. your quilt is very nice. I love the fabrics. It is my style for sure.
MmmMMmm I made cinnamon cake last week and hubbs and I ate it in three days.
I want to make cinnamon rolls with yeast, and also a cheese cake I have made before using half cream cheese and half cottage cheese blenderised it is really good and less heavy. Freezable too.
Lucky you get to go back to normal. Here, I think we will be moderately in phase one, or is it two? for a while. This whole pandemic thing has been such a weird event.
Yeah, every day seems the same. we watch church on tv, live on Sunday but really we would watch it again any other day. So that is the only way we know for sure hahahah
Have a wonderful new week. Your kitty is beautiful. I love Chester

    1. Hi Rosemary, Ooooh I love cheesecake! I've not tried making one with 1/2 cream and 1/2 cottage cheese before. I might need to do that next time.
Yes, it really is such a strange time, with days seeming to blend in together. Hopefully restrictions are eased in your area soon x

    1. You won't believe how many times we've sat working on this puzzle and the kids sit there chattering and imagining what each colour would taste like :)

    1. I think this easing came along quite suddenly. We were hearing late May too. Most things are still closed but it's nice to be able to visit someone in their home without it being just a food drop-off. The world is going to be a very different place after all of this, don't you think?
