Checkered Heart


I'm a sucker for a heart project so when I saw that this weeks challenge over on Project Quilting was called 'Put a Heart on it', I just knew I had to join. 


 This little Checkered Heart is a pattern by Nadra Ridgeway of Ellis & Higgs. If you like "lovey dovey" projects, Nadra has a number of sweet heart blocks and projects available on her website. 

 I used scraps for this little project and if you look closely, you can see where I even had to piece the border with smaller strips of this same aqua blue solid.

 Again, I decided to spiral quilt this little mini. I used my 1/4" foot so the lines are closer together than my previous spiral quilted projects. Finished with my favourite black and white stripe binding from Spotlight, I'm going to use this Checkered Heart Mini as a coaster for my morning coffee.

      Thank you. I spiral quilted something last month and now and hooked on this technique. It's great for small projects, though I'm not sure I'm confident to spiral quilt a large one just yet.
