A new month means a new goal to work towards finishing. I am really enjoying this OMG challenge hosted by Elm Street Quilts. It gives me something to work towards completing rather than letting it just sit around without urgency (if that makes sense)?
This month, I have a few secret projects which I can't share with you just yet. I've picked up a few commissions for upcoming magazines which will take priority.
As I make these projects, I'll also be make 50+ super scrappy teeny 3" churn dash blocks, as leaders and enders. These little blocks will form the next border of my 'Midnight at the Oasis' quilt - a pattern by Jen Kingwell.
Little blocks are super fiddly to work with, but I just love looking at them when they're all sewn and sitting together.
My (achievable) August 2019 One Monthly Goal will be to complete all of the little churn dash blocks for the quilt border and have that border attached to the quilt.

Oh, I had no idea they were so tiny! It's one of my favorite blocks, but I've not made one smaller than 3 x 5. Usually, I make them in 9 in. squares. =) The several together look great, and it's a good way to use up small scraps and make a border for your project, at the same time. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite blocks too. I love the tiny blocks in a quilt border, though my eyes have a hard time stitching tiny blocks with any precision these days.
ReplyDeleteLove those little blocks! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
ReplyDeleteI just love the idea of making many churn dash blocks for a pieced border. It never occurred to me and these are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the churn dash block but have never considered making them so small. What an amazing goal. You are right that they are just so cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to make them as a leader/ender project. I had not realised the blocks were so small. Good luck with your goal.
