Handmade Magazine was the magazine in which my first pattern was published (around 8 years ago). Since that first project, I've had regular projects featured within the glossy pages of this publication.
It seems to be happening a lot lately but Express Publications have decided to stop producing and publishing Handmade Magazine along with Australian Patchwork & Quilting. It's sad to see them go. These magazines have been regulars at the local newsagents and supermarkets my whole sewing life.

I'm pleased that I have a project featured in the final issue of Handmade Magazine.
My Woodland Spring Cushion is a fun little project which was made a little while ago for the magazine with some fun prints by Designs by Dani for Riley Blake Designs.
This final issue is all about projects to make for fetes and fairs, so this type of simple project is just perfect to make and sell at a fair.
Now that the magazine is no longer in business, I will slowly begin to go through my project pattern library and make them available here as simple projects or to sell through my Craftsy Store.
Stay tuned :)

I think it is sad so many magazines are closing there doors. Many in America have stopped publishing. I love a great magazine in my hands rather than everything digital using up storage on my IPad, IPod, and other tech devices. Next I am not sure how I feel about Craftsy moving into something new, will they leave the wonderful Craftsy behind? I hope not.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, like you, I love holding and flicking through a magazine or book too. I seem to forget patterns that I've downloaded onto my device/s.
DeleteI signed up for the new bluprint trial yesterday and loved it. I've watched a few videos and am inspired to start so many new things!
I've noticed how the magazine are getting thinner and thinner - and now some will be discontinued altogether!! I've got stacks of mags stored in containers - its always good to go back and retrieve a magazine that you'd marked a pattern to make!!
