SEWING: Porto Yarn Bag {Pattern}

Porto Yarn Bag by Anorina Morris

It may still be hot here in the southern hemisphere, but it doesn't mean that we can't start dreaming about cooler weather. For me, cooler weather brings thoughts of crafting with yarn. I just can't seem to get enthused about crocheting when it's hot, but as soon as the weather cools down, my hook is out and ready for action!

What about you?
Are you a cool weather only OR an all-season crocheter (or knitter)?

I made this large craft bag a while back for a magazine commission using the 'From Porto With Love' canvas fabric by Sarah Watts for Cotton + Steel

It's a big bag, perfect to store a crochet project, nicely and neatly. During the cooler months, my crochet bag often sits beside me in the living room and at the end of the evening, I can just hide it in a corner out of the way.

This is a simple bag design and can be sewn together in an afternoon/evening. I used canvas fabric which is lovely for a bag project but as its quilted, regular quilting cotton fabric is fine and should still give it sturdy sides.

Here are the supplies you'll need to make this bag:

1yd canvas or deco weight fabric
1yd cotton print fabric (lining)
(2) 18" x 24" pieces of batting
(1) 5" x WOF navy linen or deco weight fabric (handles)

Sewing machine, neutral thread, rotary cutter, ruler, mat... and all of the other usual bits needed when sewing.

I added a pocket inside of my bag (attached to the lining) but this is an optional extra as it extra bling or embellishment.

I hope you liked this pattern and as always, if you make this bag, please let me know. I'd love to see your creations :)
