This is little project is my latest finish. It’s called the Simply Strippy Sewing Kit which is a pattern from the book, Scrap Happy Sewing. I’ve had this book on my sewing table for a few days, and from the moment I saw it, I’ve been eager to create this little sewing kit. Now that I’ve made one sewing kit, I want to make more and more of them. They’re so sweet – and easy!
Scrap Happy Sewing is the delightfully scrappy book by Retro Mama - Kim Kruzich (who you may know as @RetroMama on Instagram).
It’s filled with the sweetest little scrappy projects and if you’re like me – a fabric scrap collector/hoarder – you’ll enjoy creating the projects in this book. The 18 projects in the book include a mix of techniques ie. sewing, patchwork, applique and embroidery.
The instructions are very easy to follow and the excellent photographs and images make this a perfect book for any sewing skill level.
After the initial introductory pages, the projects are divided up in to groups:
Home Sweet Home
Simply Sorted
Child’s Play
Travel Light
After the projects, Kim details all of the techniques used in her book. Everything is covered, from preparing the fabric, to machine stitches, hand stitches, stuffing, quilting, preparing bias strips and binding.
Full size templates are found in the rear of the book. Yes, full size! No need to play around with the copier settings, which in my opinion, is a big positive.
Scrap Happy Sewing by Kim Kruzich is a lovely book with sweet projects for yourself, your home and your loved ones. It will inspire you to delve into your scrap basket and start sewing immediately (like I did).
Scrap Happy Sewing is published by David & Charles. It is available in Australia from Can Do Books and internationally from Amazon.
