When I’m sewing, I love to have something playing in the background. Music, a podcast, a YouTube video, possibly a Craftsy class, perhaps a DVD… just something to keep me company (if that’s not too strange to say out loud). Sure, I have Chester, my trusty side-kick, but if he’s sleeping 90% of the time and the other 10% he’s demanding food or scratches under the chin.
I’ve become a HUGE fan of Netflix - especially during the day when everyone is at work or school.
Netflix is a subscription an on-demand streaming service. The first month is free (as a trial) and admittedly, once you try it and realise how easy it is to use and the variety of programs available, you’ll probably be like me, and keep on subscribing. Netflix only began servicing Australian audiences a few months ago but it’s has become very popular. At only around $9 per month, it’s fantastic value for watching what you want, when you want.
I thought it would be fun to get a few ideas on new things to watch so, I asked my friends on social media, ‘While sewing what were their favourite shows to watch on Netflix?”. The answers were varied and other factors came into play. So I’ve broken it down into some fun ideas on shows to watch in the sewing room.
Top Shows (Hand Sewing)
When we hand sew, we are calmer and more able to focus on the screen (rather than a sewing machine) along with whatever the project we’re working on.
1. Downton Abbey
2. Call the Midwife
3. The 100
4. Upstairs, Downstairs
5. Lost (this one is my current obsession. I’m half way through season 3 and it seems there’s a cliff hanger at the end of each episode).
6. House
7. Midsomer Murders
8. The Killing
9. Dr Who
10. The Bletchley Circle
Top Shows (Machine Sewing)
When machine sewing, everyone is in agreement that a show which you can watch “with only one eye” is perfect. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Absolutely Fabulous
2. Friends
3. Friday Night Lights
4. Nashville
5. Gilmore Girls
6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
7. 3rd Rock from the Sun
8. How I met you mother
9. That 70’s Show
10. Arrow
Anyways, I hope I’ve given you a few new ideas on things you may not yet have heard of, or perhaps forgotten.

ReplyDeleteAudible books are great. I also like NCIS and NCIS LA, but sometimes I miss a bit of the action so I record the shows so I can rewind and catch up again. 8-)
