Even though I didn’t get much actual sewing completed during the Christmas and New Year period, I did however enjoy some time with some new craft books. I’ll share a few of these over the next few weeks.
A Flair for Fabric is a delightful new book from Martingale with creative sewing projects from the designers at Henry Glass. A wonderful thing about this book is that the designers have donated their work and all royalties will be donated to the Red Cross.
Immerse yourself in designs by Leanne Anderson; Dana Brooks; Linda Lum DeBono; Kim Diehl; Anni Downs; Jill Finley; Amy Hamberlin; Liz Hawkins and Beth Hawkins of Lizzie B Cre8ive; Margot Languedoc; Janet Nesbitt and Pam Soliday of Buggy Barn; Vicki Oehlke; Heather Mulder Peterson; Jacquelynne Steves; and Mary Ellen Von Holt, Alice Berg, and Sylvia Johnson of Little Quilts.
A Flair for Fabric includes 14 projects and it’s one of those books which you’re inspired to make everything! Each project is by a different designer and at the start of the project, each designer lets us in on their ideas on how they design quilts, fabric etc.
Close to my Heart by Linda Lum DeBono
The projects all have wonderful instructions and diagrams to assist in the construction. The images are all beautiful and absolutely inspiring. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be itching to start stitching.
Posy Pot Heat Bag by Anni Downs
I’ve been so inspired, that I have started another project (because I don’t already have many, many on the go) by one of my favourite Aussie designers, Anni Downs. Is anyone else joining in the stitch along this year?
A Flair for Fabric includes different styles, so it certainly has something for everyone. Simple patchwork for quick finish projects, to more intricate applique designs for the more adventurous sewist.
Blueberries and Bananas by Vicki Oehlke
Garden Bramble by Kim Diehl
Funky Flowers by Heather Mulder Peterson
A Flair for Fabric includes full size patterns which I absolutely love. It makes transferring patterns so much easier. With this great variety of applique projects, this is a big plus!
This is a fabulous book and one which you will absolutely love. Available from the Martingale Shop.

don't you think that LOOKING can be as much fun as DOING x I get loads of inspiration from a book like this x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Looking is just as much fun as doing. I find myself looking way to much and wanting to make everything. Extra hours in the day would be lovely, wouldn't they?
DeleteAnorina, I'm doing Anni's sew-a-long. I've decied I'm going to stitch the designs rather than do the applique, and so far it's looking fantastic!. I'm having so much fun with it!. Think this book will be on my have to get list!
ReplyDeleteYay Sandy! This book really is wonderful with a lot of different styles and projects to make.
DeleteI'm participating in Anni's sew along too. I've ordered the book and now eagerly waiting to begin.
