Kim Diehl is known for her striking applique and quilt designs. In her new book, Simple Appeal, Kim shares 14 patchwork and applique projects for everyday living.

Simple Appeal includes full size applique patterns which is always much nicer than having to play around with enlarging pattens on the printer.
Beautiful coloured photos and step by step detailed images which are also in full colour.
Kim’s detailed quilt-making basics section which includes tips and tricks for effective and beautiful applique results.

The quilts and other projects in this book are simply stunning. Some projects look to be quick (ish) finish ones – eg the Patty Cake Pincushion or the Wreath of Lilies Mini.

Quick finish projects are always nice but it’s Kim’s quilt patterns which are the main drawcard. They’re pieced and appliqued and though traditional patterns aren’t ones I’m normally drawn to, these have inspired me. The quilts may take a little while (or a long while) to complete, but the final results would be well worth the effort.

If you like more traditional quilts and enjoy applique, or if you’re like me and enjoy traditional designs with contemporary prints - this is certainly a book which would be of interest to you.

ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the book and was so happy when I received it, it's hard to just pick one pattern to work on I could happily just work my way through from the start! Thank you for the great review as well.
