Love tuna? Love cheese? If you (or your kids) love both of these ingredients, no doubt you will love this absolutely delicious Tuna & Cheese Spread.
This spread is one of my mother in law’s specialities – and - I think she got the recipe from her mother in law (my husbands grandmother).
I remember the first time I tasted this spread was during the Christmas break, a few years ago. Every time I eat it now, it always reminds me of Christmas and happy times.
Tuna & Cheese Spread
1 medium sized tin of tuna (I use the 185g Sirena tuna, in olive oil - drained)
100g of natural yoghurt
200g of grated cheese (I use Red Leicester, though tasty cheese is good )
* Fresh Chives (chopped)
Place all of the ingredients into a bowl and combine well.
Spread it on a cracker or on some toasted bread.
It especially tastes very yummy as a sandwich filling.
It is perfect for the kids school lunches as the tuna is held together nicely, with the cheese and yoghurt and won't get totally sloppy (as a tuna sandwich can tend to do).
This Tuna & Cheese Spread can be prepared a couple of days in advance and kept in the refrigerator until required.
Absolutely scrumptious!!
* There were no fresh chives available at my local supermarket, so I added a decorative sprig of fresh mint.

Other than the basic sandwich fillings, what are some of your favourites?
