I usually drink my coffee black, but sometimes I do like the Nescafe coffee sachets. They’re sweeter than my usual and are a lovely little treat. I know that not everyone likes their coffee as strong as I do, so I usually have a pack of these in the pantry which is always handy for visitors.
A couple of weeks ago, I signed up to work with Soup (the marketing company, not the hot meal you eat with a spoon), on their latest Nescafe Cafe Menu campaign.
Well the other day, it was like I’d won the lottery. A large box arrived. Inside, were all these yummy boxes of coffee. If you love coffee as much as I do, you can imagine my glee… or perhaps you’ve seen all of my Nescafe related posts on the Samelia’s Mum Facebook page, or my Instagram.
Nescafe Cafe Menu is available in 14 varieties, including old favourites like latte, mocha and cappuccino. There are some sweeter flavours (like the vanilla or caramel latte) and the skim variants (you can get skim Mocha – love this!) for a lighter option.
Personally, I love the Mocha or the Cappuccino (Strong). Soooo yummy!
So rather than drink all of this coffee myself, I had some of my girlfriends over for afternoon tea and coffee.
Our kids go to school together, and we sometimes see each other when dropping off or collecting the kids, but rarely get time to just sit together and chat. Life is crazy busy and if we don’t make an effort, life and friends just move on.
It’s extremely important to catch up with friends and have some adult conversation. What better way to catch up, than with a coffee?
Thanks to Nescafe and Soup, I have a $150 voucher to giveaway to a lucky Samelia’s Mum reader. A voucher, which you can use to get together with friends and just ‘catch-up’ on all of the latest happenings in your lives.
To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment, telling me:
How do you catch-up with your friends?
What do you do? Where do you go?

ReplyDelete"Me" time is scarce, is it any wonder?!
So I hang out for catch-ups with my sisters or friends
When we're together, the laughter never ends!
Usually we love to go shop up a storm
It's our favorite pastime whether it's cool or warm!
Or we get together for a dance-off on the Wii
And after some wine, we sing karaoke!
We all have kids so it's great for them too
They make their fun memories just as we do!
Or if we're really lucky we'll hit the town
Leaving the kids with the hubbies (a win hands down!)
My friends dance me through the days of my life
Even when it's no party or when I'm in strife!!

ReplyDeleteThankyou!!
My girlfriends and I originally met through playgroup when our kids were little. Then they went off to 3 year old kindy and we used to drop them off and then meet up at a local coffee shop for a coffee before taking the chance to do some child-free shopping. Now that the second babies are in (4 year old) Kindy and we have full days free we catch up at each others' houses and spend the days chatting or sewing.. and drinking tea/coffee and eating.. mostly sewing and eating ;) (how lucky am I that my girlfriends are all quilters too?? yay for playgroup!)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I go to them for lunch, sometimes they come to me!
ReplyDeleteI love catching up for coffee with friends, but these days it is more likely to be a meeting at the park with the kiddies!
ReplyDeleteOh I catch up whenever and where-ever I can. Sometimes even virtually when we both have our coffee in our own home. Many of my friends live hundreds of kms from me, so we take what we can get.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like catching up with my girlfriends for lunch...chatting about anything and everything. Then there's the midnight scrapbooking nights, where nothing is off limits. It's so good to hang out with like-minded people, getting creative, discussing life and everything in between.
ReplyDeleteWe usually catch up with playdates after school...we hope for once a week but in reality it is more like once a month!
ReplyDeleteCatching up with friends for me is sometimes getting together with friends or family out for a meal, or for a more personal touch I entertain at home and cook something special, a delicious meal and a sumptious desert that makes the coffee taste even better.

My best friend Jean and I live about 1 1/2 hrs apart we like to get together and sew every couple of weeks. Sometimes she visits me or I go to her place. We almost always go out for a nice lunch.

Since I live in the middle of nowhere, we usually catch up by phone call or online. Sometimes, though, we actually can get together and gab like we'd just seen each other last week!
ReplyDeleteCatch up days with my friends are at one of our homes. We take calorie laden goodies to go with our coffee, chatting and crafting.
ReplyDeleteI like to go out to different cafes each time, then back to my place to chill whenever I catch up with friends. It allows us the opportunity to try out different foods and atmospheres, and to just get away for a while.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous catch up! Mmmmm hazelnut coffee!
ReplyDeleteWe try to catch up outside the home in one of our favorite coffee shops. It's not just a great way to stay in touch, but it gives us a chance to be 'real' people out in the big, wide world. It's easy to find yourself house-bound with little ones.
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I love to get together for sewing days where we do a lot of chatting and laughing and a bit of sewing. Also thanks to blogs and blogging I can catch up with my friends all over the world from the comfort of my own home, always with a hot drink on hand :)
ReplyDeleteWhen we have get togethers we do it at our house, my hubby fires out the BBQ and makes us a lovely dinner before we play cards and chat and laugh the night away.
ReplyDeleteSince my bestie started working full time its been much harder to catch up for 'girls only' time during the week but we try and do lunch at one of our favourite restaurants when she's on leave and long phone calls on Friday nights (well until the phone battery dies!) to catch up on all the gossip. We get together as couples as well but its not quite the same as a girly lunch together!
ReplyDeleteI catch up with friends in the tuckshop at my kids school, everyone pops in as they go past and we will have a chat or a cup of coffe and something to eat if it is lunch time. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI catch up with my friends over a cup of coffee or over a pizza party. They also have kids so our kids also get to meet their friends. We share our problems, achievements, share recipes, discuss our parenting styles, chat about tv shows and movies. Sometimes we go for a walk or go to the library together. Friends are very important to keep myself sane while taking care of two little ones....

We go to a fairly well known vegetarian cafe in our village. We sit out on the pavement with our coffees and cakes for morning tea or lunch. On the very rare evening meal catch up we dine with great vegetarian food by candlelight. Sadly doesn't happen nearly enough when one's a busy mum.
ReplyDeleteWe mostly catch up at parks or play centres so our children are happy while we chat. We also have a movie night at least once per month. Sometimes do dinner, and we had a games night recently which was a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteUsually there's food involved - either we cook together and have lunch/tea, or we might go for a picnic or morning tea. We also love to wander around the shops, maybe stop for a drink or something to eat before we head on. :)

ReplyDeleteMy neighbours are my friends so we catch up by popping into one another's homes and chatting... It's our form of networking which is so important for our times of stress.
ReplyDeleteWe take turns (there's 6 of us!) at one of our homes, each week, & put on a special morning tea, which usually evolves into lunch :). We pick flowers, make cakes, try out new recipes, coffees & teas, and catch up on the weeks news :).

ReplyDeleteWe catch up over food...it's always over a good meal or dessert!
ReplyDeleteOnce every 3 months my dear girlfriends from highschool (some from way way back to Kinder), leave our lovely families for a few hours to catch up over a meal and lots of wine. Our journeys may all be different, but we share them over many laughs and tears!
ReplyDeleteI like to go to Max Brenner or the Lindt Cafe with my girl friends for an occasional treats. It is more affordable than high tea, and we nice way to spend time with people I love.
ReplyDeleteWe usually catch up at our local club as they have a really great play area for the kids and they also have a really good cafe to enjoy a cuppa and some really delicious cakes and pastries. If I am going to have a decent catch up no matter where we end up it must involve a decent cuppa and cake of some sort ;)

ReplyDeleteI catch up with my friends on Facebook. We share anything and everything. We don't go anywhere, except poke and tag each other
ReplyDeleteFriends and family overseas skype we arrange a time that suits over facebook then make a coffee and catch up on skype not as good as meeting in person but by arranging a time that suits it's a nice relaxed catch up that I really look forward to.
ReplyDeleteWe like to catch up at our favorite local coffee shop, there's nothing better than catching up with friends with a nice coffee and cake :)

We catch up at the local Tavern for lunch, They have great food a fully stocked toy box and a sand pit for the kids. We have a chat and they can play:)
ReplyDeleteWhen our kids were toddlers, a group of us banded together in a playgroup, and starting meeting at Hungry Jacks every week. While the boys played, we swapped parenting tips and gossip. Now the boys are 14 and haven't been to playgroup since their kindy days, but the mums still meet every week, still at Hungry Jacks (free refills!), and still swap gossip - we gave up on the parenting tips long ago lol.

ReplyDeleteMy best friend and I live across the world from each other - she's in the UK! We usually catch-up via skype, which is a great way to chat and feel like we're with each other. We skype so often I think I talk to her more than a lot of my friends in Sydney!!!!! I'm in the UK staying with her at the moment though and being here in person is really so much better than skyping, if only it wasn't 24 hours and a LOT of hard saving away!
