We’ve been on Disney over-drive lately. We were mesmerised by Disney on Ice on Thursday night and on Sunday, we were invited to the premiere of the latest Disney-Pixar film, BRAVE.
We made our way to the George Street (Sydney) cinema complex and were greeted by people dressed in their Scottish finest, Scottish dancers and bagpipes. Yes, real life bagpipes.
We were invited to wear our best tartan, but as my wardrobe is seriously lacking in tartan, jeans were the go. Amelia was our family Scottish/Brave mascot with her curly ginger hair all out (and extra curly) – a la Princess Merida from the film - plus red tights. Good to go!
I met up with some of my fabulous blogging friends and had a few moments for hugs and quick chats. Before we knew it, we were given our drinks, 3D glasses and being directed into the cinema.
Let me just say that it was the first time the kids had worn 3D glasses which actually fit them. Thank you to the powers that be, for introducing kids sized 3D glasses at the movies!!
Before BRAVE started, we watched a Disney short film called La Luna – super super sweet. If you go and see BRAVE these school holidays, make sure you’re there in time to see La Luna.
Now, a little about the film… without giving too much away…
Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, BRAVE features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.
BRAVE is a visual feast with the most amazing animation. I came away wishing for a mane of red curls and fair Scottish skin… okay maybe not, but the animation was amazing!!
BRAVE features the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connelly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters.
The characters are absolutely loveable. Merida has triplet brothers which are mischievous little fellows – but oh so much fun.
We loved it, though it is rated PG as there are some scary fighting bear scenes. My kids were okay with it and asked if they could watch it again.
Hmmm... maybe during the school holidays.
Will you take your children to watch BRAVE these school holidays?
What is your favourite all-time Disney film?
Fantasia - without a doubt! My grandsons are too young yet for such entertainment! *sigh*
ReplyDeleteWill this make me glad I had those red Irish curls and freckles as a child? My grandchildren take themselves to the movies now but I will take myself up the road to Disney World to see it. My favorite Disney film would have to be Snow White.
ReplyDeleteOoh I'm keen to see this one but the kidlets might have to wait til they're a bit older!
ReplyDeleteAs a redhead I would love to see this but I am not sure if my two would cope with this film. They are both very sensitive, thanks so much for the review. I have been hoping that some one who I trust would post a review about it so I would know whether to take them to it.
ReplyDeleteI might have to go on my own with a friend, as I really want to see it. Or wait for it to come out on DVD!
