Easter Basket {Kids Craft}

The Easter Bunny is due to visit on Sunday.

The kids are hoping Mr Bunny will hide lot’s of chocolate eggs all over the garden.

This mummy must get down to the supermarket tomorrow and stock up on chocolate eggs. I have one bag but I don’t know if it will be enough.

With today being a public holidays, and everyone feeling a little under the weather, we decided some craft was a good idea.

We made baskets, to collect chocolate eggs on Sunday.

They’re not high tech, but the kids enjoyed making them. That’s the whole point of kids craft, isn’t it?

Materials needed are:

A paper plate. The ones that aren’t waxy on the underside are best for this project.

Textas, crayons, glitter, stickers or whatever you can get your hands on.

A stapler (with staples – obviously)

First step is to decorate the back of the plate as desired.

Go crazy.

More is more.

Easter Basket 1

Amelia was enthusiastic. She really is my crafty girl.

She was especially happy as I let her use her new Crayola SuperTips which I received at the Bloggers BBQ last weekend.

Easter Basket 2

They’re washable markers which I love. After this little project, we ended up with texta all over her dress, the table, her fingers and face.

Once the plate is decorated as desired (coloured and then sprinkled with glitter), fold in half and staple the lower edges.

Easter Basket 3

Cut a strip of paper and staple each end, to each half of the plate (in the centre), to make the basket handle.

Easy!

Just in case you’re wondering, that’s a picture of her, with purple curly hair and a flower.

Easter Basket 4

Not to be out-done by his younger sister, here is Sam sprinkling some glitter and blinging up his Easter basket.

We decided that the top of the slide was the best place to sprinkle glitter. Don’t ask me why.

Easter Basket 5

“Happy Easter” mixed in with “muuuuuuum, I’m falling”

Easter Basket 6

With a day to go before Mr Bunny arrives, there is still time for your kids to make their own Easter baskets.

Sunday will come, and they will search the bushes and shrubs in the back garden… mum sits back, cheers them on, while having a champagne breakfast.

What are your Easter traditions?

  2. Lol! This is great!!! Unfortunately, we don't really live in a climate where it is a good idea to hide Easter eggs outside .. or even inside!! Always too hot ... plus, we have a lot of ants living in our garden, and they are always on the lookout for yummy food ... so this is one activity we won't be doing with DD! ... The baskets your kids made are both gorgeous though!!! Congratulations on such creative baskets kids!!!
