Today, we did the long, long, loooooong drive to Melbourne. It took about 10 hours of sitting in the car. A lot of boring road, with nothing but trees to look at. We covered approximately 850km (not sure what that would be in miles).
Luckily for us, the kids have in car DVD players. I don't know how anyone ever survived a road trip without them.
We look forward to some relaxing with my IL's, a bit of shopping and the new years celebrations at South Bank.
I don't have my sewing machine with me, so I can imagine I will be having serious withdrawals in a few days.
Luckily I brought some hand stitching to keep me going.

Do you have a craft project, ready to go, when you do?
long trip... have a lovely time in Melbourne... I always have some hand sewing or knitting or crochet on hand for away times....

Usually that would be knitting, most often, sock knitting, although I have been known to knit many other things while travelling!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in Melbourne.
Welcome to Melbourne. Kids love playing I Spy & singing songs in the car...educational for them. Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteThat would be just shy of 530 miles! Have a safe trip! We have to break those long ones down and stop A LOT!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter how many miles - 10 hours says it all! I always pack at least one or two hand projects to work on. Since I discovered that I can crochet in the car, I usually make little rectangles that I contribute to an ongoing project. But I also take cross stitch or redwork or hexies or yoyos too. My hands always need to be busy. Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteI brought my baby girl's stocking to work on during our Christmas trip, but left some of the supplies at home by mistake! Hand stitching would have been a better choice! Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteIf you went down via the Hume Hwy then I'm waving hello to you as you go past the Wangaratta region where I work(just south of Albury). No DVD's when mine were small - it was mostly eye spy & such. As for handiwork - crochet in the car, hand embroidery & such for the destination :) Have a great time in Melb!
ReplyDeleteI just got back from a long road trip to SD. I usually take an English paper piecing project--delightfully portable.
