Geez I love my family. I talk about them often, both here and in real life, but in saying this, it’s great to get away from them sometimes.
A lovely group of kindergarten mums like to get together, every so often - without husbands or children. It’s lovely to be able to talk to other adults (in a similar demographic) without the children drawing away our attention at any given moment.
This week, I was lucky enough to attend a special movie night with a group of 7 other women. We had dinner and then went to our local cinema and attended the “Chicks at the Flicks” event.
One of the favourite parts of the evening, is walking in, showing our ticket and receiving our goodie bags. Yes goodie bags! Who doesn’t love a goodie bag?
It includes some lovely pampering things (nail polish and lip gloss), something to read and usually something to nibble on while watching the film. Plus a drink – which didn’t make it into the picture.
Previous goodie bags have included chocolate and different vouchers, even t-shirts and diaries. Who knows what you might get?!?!
We watched the new film starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Pierce Brosnan – I Don’t Know How She Does It.
The movie itself was quite mindless and predictable, but it was just lovely to sit, watch, laugh and not really need to think. There is a hair lice scene which is quite funny (especially if you’re a mum and have probably been through that same sort of situation).
The next ‘Chicks at the Flicks’ event will be for the upcoming Twilight Movie – which will be HUGE and probably sell out super quickly. I do plan on watching Breaking Dawn, but I’ll just wait and go solo on a Tuesday morning or something. It’ll be more enjoyable without the screaming teens.

When was the last time you went to the movies? What did you see?

I think the last time I went to the movies was November 2009 to see "A Christmas Carol" in 3D at the Imax theatre in Sydney - I loved it!
ReplyDeleteNo, wait - I saw the King's Speech earlier this year: another great movie!
I went and saw " The Eye of the Storm" recently. Hope to see the movie you have just seen, next week with my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lovely way to enjoy some time with a group of friends.
ReplyDeleteWe saw The Help last week. I had read the book and was pleased that the film stayed true to the story. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sounds like a brillant idea!! I am soo jealous. I can't remember the last time I went on a movie night out. More than 4 years at least ... I think having Mummy down time ... relaxing with other adults is just so important
ReplyDeleteI saw "Drive" today and it was hands-down the set movie I've seen all year. Loved loved loved. And not just cos Ryan Gosling has been on my list since Half Nelson, although he cemented his place at number one!! I'll warn you though that it's very, very violent. x
