This week, we're on a little family getaway in Melbourne. My husbands family live here so its been lovely to catch-up with everyone.
When I was packing for the trip, the kids suitcase wasnt looking very full, so I threw in a few yarn cakes. A girl can never have too many craft projects on the go, right?
I've seen quite a few C2C (corner to corner) crochet blankets popping up in my feed lately, so thought I'd have a try myself.
My favourite tutorial to learn C2C has been on the Bella Coco YouTube channel. Its a surprisingly easy crochet method and this blanket is working up quickly.
I'm in Melbourne a few more days - I wonder if i can get the blanket finished before we head back home? Its certainly a relaxing way to pass the afternoon.
Have you tried C2C?
this is so pretty. I have been wanting to try a C2C.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's quite a simple pattern to follow which makes it perfect for crocheting in the evening in front of the telly.
DeleteI taught myself to do this from an online tutorial. Unfortunately I wasn't a very good teacher!! I was fine with the increasing but something went very wrong with the decreasing and I ended up with a very strange shaped blanket. I've since made several more, each time checking constantly that my straight edges are not interestingly curved :) Like you I find it works up very quickly and is fun to do.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Stop tempting me with those yarn cakes!!
Whoops! I'm sure the blanket is still loved, even if a little wonky. So far so good with mine, though it's going to be square and I should probably have tried to make it a rectangle. Next time, for sure.
DeleteThese yarn cakes are so easy to work with. I got my sister in law 2 for her birthday and she's since ordered more :)
I've made a couple and they are fun and I had trouble with the decrease also. Took me a while to get the hang of it. I love your colors!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes the decrease is a little tricky. I always seem to go too far and then have to unravel a little bit to make the edge straight :)
DeleteThis is looking lovely and the yarn cakes are perfect for the colour changes. Are you planning to go to the quilt show?
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
Deleteyes I went to the quilt show. It was super crowded. Did you go too?
