One of my favourite things about unpacking Christmas decorations is finding things which I made the previous year/s and had forgotten about… like my "A Star for Christmas Cushion" which I made for publication in Love Sewing Australia magazine (created mid 2015).
I found the cushion in a box of handmade cushions, quilts, table runners, baubles etc. Most things are now on display around the house, and as I had created the cushion in the middle of last year, I’d never shared it on Instagram. So I shared it and got a such a lovely response on IG plus a few message requests for the pattern, so I decided that I’d share it as a free project. My gift to you, this Christmas.
It’s simple to stitch with a basic back stitch, though you could use a stem stitch to embroider the words - either would look wonderful.
The EPP star is made up with a combination of 2” diamonds and jewel shapes. I used pre-cut purchased shapes, but have included a template of each shape which you can print, cut, and trace to make your own papers. It’s not a lot of EPP, transfering the templates won’t be too time consuming.
The pretty fabric is called Little Joys and is by Elea Lutz for PennyRose Fabrics.
As always, if you create a project with my pattern, I’d love to see it. Please share on IG and tag me @SameliasMum or on Facebook (search SameliasMum) or just send me an email.
Happy Stitching!!
