Zumbo is back! And its almost enough to make a girl go weak at the knees.
Adriano Zumbo is a master patissier and is the creator of some of the most amazing pastries, desserts (and Masterchef challenges) Australia has seen.
The Zumbo Files is Adriano Zumbo's third book and he invites into his world of amazing recipes, which inspire the imagination and make our mouths water at the thought.
The Zumbo Files is a collection of some of his latest recipe creations including the V8 Diesel Cake, Chouxmaca and the Zonut, along with
some of his favourite savoury dishes - quiches, sausage rolls and even a 'fish and chip pie'.
This is truly an awe-inspiring book, not only for the recipe ideas but also for the colourful photograpy by Brett Stevens. The pictures are modern, quirky and just overall... amazing!
The book is set out in six sections dedicated to a different style of recipe.
At the start of each section, there is a master recipe followed by different examples and flavour combinations for you to try... and of course, you can always use this as a guide for your own creations.
For example, in the image above is for a peanut butter, banana and bubblegum chouxmaca. The basic chouxmaca recipe is at the beginning of the chapter and then the fun filling options are in the pages following.
* Chouxmaca is a bun made from choux pastry and a sable disc piped full of delicious fillings and topped with a macaron. Chouxmaca is a play on the name of world famous racing driver, Michael Schumacher, who Adriano Zumbo admires greatly.
The instructions and step by step photographs are perfect with a lot of detailed information to help the home-cook succeed in recreating these recipes.
One of my favourite chapters is on Zumbaroons, macarons with a twist. I have tried making these before however my attempts have never been very successful. Now that I have Adriano Zumbo's recipe I might feel more confident in my next attempts.
Having read through this book I will say that some of these recipes are not for the faint hearted. But if you love a food challenge, this is certainly the book for you. The V8 Diesel Cake requires biscuit making, macarons, brulee and six other stages before construction. However each stage has easy to follow steps and once you finish there will certainly be a great feeling of accomplishment.
With Mothers Day just around the corner this would be a great book to spoil mum... and what would be even better is to give it to her whilst eating a delicious macaron or pastry from one of Adriano Zumbo's stores! Adriano Zumbo has five stores throughout NSW and Victoria, including a concept store at The Star City Casino in Sydney.
PS. I met Adriano Zumbo a few years ago at an event. I was a little (well, a lot) star struck (as were the other bloggers in attendance) but he was lovely and posed with us all for a photo.
