It has been crazy around here this past week, so yes, this weeks scrap project is late, late, late! But what’s that old saying… better late than never, right?
Introducing the fun and festive, Jolly Table Mat.
I used some Christmas fabric which I recently discovered in my scrap bin. Don’t you love it when you find fabrics that you completely forgot you had? But obviously, this table mat – or place mat – can be made with any fabrics you like.
To make this place mat, you will need the following:
Sew the 2.5” squares into pairs and press the seams open.
Arrange the blocks are per the diagram below and sew the blocks into 3 rows. Press the seams open.
And then sew the 3 rows together to make this table mat top.
I left it at one, as I only had enough Christmas fabric for the one mat, but you could use a whole heap of 2.5” squares with solids, to make a whole set of place mats.
I quilted mine with some straight lines, 1/4” on either side of the seams.
It was a quick finish project and it’ll be ready for December, when I unpack all of my Christmas things.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Anorina! I have been cutting my Christmas fabrics scraps into that size of square for a few years now, but never any ideas of using them, just collecting them... I think I will use a few now with this design! Thanks so much for the inspiration
